July 2024 · 2 minute read

Alanis Morissette has released her ninth studio album  Such Pretty Forks In The Road and its one that needs to be added to your playlist this weekend.

Having already released “Reasons I Drink”, “Smiling” and “Diagnosis” from the album, Such Pretty Forks In The Road has all the hallmarks of a great listen that lends itself to listening to when you want to chill out.

The album has eleven tracks all of which were written by Alanis and Michael Farrell.

Smiling

Ablaze

Diagnosis

The Missing Miracle

Reckoning

Nemesis

Pedestal

It opens with Smiling, an immediate strong introduction to the rest of the album that draws you in. With Alanis captivating vocals and a song that is easily recognisable as it’s already been released.

Standout tracks include the piano-led Diagnosis where Alanis’s vocals are particularly haunting. Her is a raw, emotive and powerful track.

Such Pretty Forks In The Road is a piano-led album that is a very reflective autobiographical body of work. The lyrics are all unflinching in their honesty, something that Alanis has always been known for and while they reflect her own personal struggles, are still relatable to the listener. They show a woman who knows her flaws and isn’t afraid to admit them, even if she isn’t quite sure how to fix them.

Alanis powerful and distinctive vocals at their best. It’s a very nice and easy listen which will delight long time fans.
