Alice Faye was an American actress and singer. She sang the song “You’ll Never Know” in the 1943 film Hello, Frisco, Frisco, which won the Academy Award for Best Song.

She was the daughter of Alice, who worked for the Mirror Chocolate Company, and Charles Christopher Leppert, a police officer. She was married to actor, comedian, musician, and songwriter Phil Harris, until his death, with whom she had three children.

Alice’s paternal grandfather was Rudolph Leppert (the son of Johannes P. Leppert and Wilheminia Uber). Rudolph was German, from Hesse, and moved to the U.S. in the 1860s.

Alice’s paternal grandmother was Caroline Augusta Kipp (the daughter of Charles/Karl Kipp and Anna Caroline Westendorf). Alice’s grandmother Caroline was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to German parents.

Alice’s maternal grandfather was named William J. Moffitt/Moffet. William was born in New York, to Irish parents.

Alice’s maternal grandmother was named Jane/Jennie Lawder. Jane was born in Ireland, and moved to the U.S. in 1873.
