Hilary Duff is steaming things up South of the Border in her swimsuit. In one of her latest posts, the actress shows off her incredible body in a bathing suit while vacationing with her husband, Matthew Koma, in Paradise. "Mexico," she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. "You're unproblematic, your husband is hot, your marriage is good, you simply stay winning," one of her 26.5 million followers commented. How does the 35-year-old keep herself fit? Celebwell rounded up some of the health habits she swears by.
Hilary is one of the many stars who swears by bodybuilding. "I was thinking I don't need to do heavy weights because if I do heavy weights I'll bulk up. I tend to build muscle fast," she told Women's Health. "I'm lifting and squatting and using a barbell with lots of weight on it, and I've never felt so strong but lean."
Hilary's diet coach uses simple math to determine her eating plan. "He basically counts your macros for you—and it's been amazing because it's basically like a mathematical equation that I just follow, and it's been really successful for me," she told Women's Health. Before she started evaluating her daily intake of carbs and healthy fats, "I had no idea how much I was eating throughout the day, snacking," she said. "I lost 10 pounds and I was not starving myself, and just eating things that I like and being more conscious."
Hilary is a fan of meal prepping. "On the weekends, I'll meal prep a few things that I can pack with me and bring to set during the week," she told Shape. "I'll make a big thing of quinoa and brown rice, or some chicken and steak chopped up. And then I'll bring some arugula and make a salad with everything. I'll bring an avocado with some lemon and sea salt or fruit for a snack. And since there's a juice place on every corner in New York, sometimes I'll get a protein shake as a meal replacement."
Hilary relies on a protein filled green smoothie to get her nutrients. "I'll put in some berries, greek yogurt, nut butter, and egg white powder that I buy it at Whole Foods-I'm really into that and use it instead of regular protein powder. And my favorite green juice I make for myself is spinach, romaine, celery, parsley cilantro, apple, pear, and banana and lemon," she told Shape.
During her grueling workouts Duff focuses on her glutes. "I've been working so hard on my bum lately! I've been doing crazy, crazy, amounts of squats with heavy weights, and weighted deadlifts and hip thrusts. They're so awkward to do because you're basically humping the air, but if they work, I'll do them. It literally changed my whole butt- I've always had a pretty good butt and some meat there but it's made it so much higher than it was, so I'm loving that," she told Shape.
