In 2020, Burruss revealed on Instagram that she wanted to change her wellness routine. "I've gained 20 pounds since May. At the beginning of COVID I was working out and I was in shape, and even then I wanted to lose 10 pounds. But I ended up getting lax and comfortable, and I ended up gaining 20. So that means I have 30 pounds of which I really would like to lose. And I just want to better myself overall. I just want to get used to making working out a part of my regular routine."

One thing Burruss did to stay in shape was work with a trainer. She revealed on Instagram that she turned to her cousin to help her out. "He's a trainer," she said. "He got up and came to my house at 7 a.m. for us to work out. It's gonna be our regular time. So, I hope that I can stick to this." Working with a trainer can provide both motivation and education when someone is working out.

Burruss decided to change her diet to help her get healthier. She shared her approach to HollywoodLife. "I stopped eating all sweets, bread. I only drank water, no juices, anything, and then I took some appetite suppressants so I didn't feel hungry all of the time. I'm not even going to lie to you, I needed a little help, so it just helped me stay on course. That basically was it and over the 2-and-a-half months I lost 20 pounds and I'd like to lose 10 more although I have started back eating sweets here and there but I've got to catch myself before I get out of whack."

Burruss tells New Beauty that she likes to use natural deodorant, and shared her favorite product. "PiperWai Natural Deodorant ($13) is aluminum-free, paraben-free, vegan and for sensitive skin. I try not to wear regular deodorant, I try to use deodorant that is aluminum-free. I was excited to see that there was a black-owned company that makes an aluminum-free deodorant. I'm not a scientist, but some people say that aluminum in deodorant can cause breast cancer. You guys should go ahead and order one so we can all try it together!"

Burruss shared some of her favorite skincare products with E! Online. She says that she likes to use a facial cleansing brush from Olay. "There are things on the essentials list that I definitely feel like we all need," she says. "This is a facial cleansing brush and it comes with two brush heads. Brush that dead skin right on off. You have to try this."
